A high-ranking Pakistani official was to arrive in Tehran on Friday to hold consultations with Iranian officials. Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, foreign secretary of Pakistan, is to lead the Pakistani side in the ninth round of Iran-Pakistan Political Consultations, which is to be held today, IRNA reported. Deputy Foreign Minister for Asian and Pacific Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour will head the Iranian delegation in talks, in which the two sides will exchange views on improving bilateral relations and facilitating regional coordination. The previous round of talks was held in the Pakistani capital Islamabad in 2014, where consultations focused on political exchanges, trade and economic cooperation, IP gas pipeline project and energy collaboration. They also discussed border security collaboration and agreed to ensure border controls and frequent security exchanges through the established mechanisms, including the Iran-Pak Border Commission. Pakistan's national security advisor, Nasser Khan Janjua, was also in Tehran last month to discuss security cooperation with Iranian officials.
