Iranian transit companies will be the main beneficiaries of recent amendments made to Azerbaijan’s Tax Code by President Ilham Aliyev, says Iran’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pakayeen. According to the amendments, trucks, trailers and semi-trailer motor vehicles of foreign states passing through Azerbaijan’s territory are exempted from road tax for three years, starting June 1, 2016. “Before the introduction of such changes, Iranian trucks had to pay the highest rate of road tax i.e. $320 whereas Turkish and Russian trucks were granted exemptions,” IRNA quoted the ambassador as saying.
