Iran Khodro Company’s CEO Hashem Yekezare said Peugeot 2008 would enter Iran’s market in March 2017 as IKCO’s first joint product with Peugeot.
According to Yekezare, the two sides are ready to increase their joint car production by 200,000 units, IKCO Press reported.
IKCO’s CEO also said Renault is expected to establish a joint venture with an Iranian car company with 80% of its shares belonging to Renault.
Although SAIPA and IKCO sought to sign exclusive contracts with the French company, Renault has decided to sign separate contracts with both, Mehr News Agency reported.
The list of cars to be produced in Iran had been announced, but it was not determined which cars would be produced by SAIPA or IKCO.
At IKCO’s General Assembly on July 20, Yekezare announced that SAIPA will produce Symbol and Duster, while Captur, Clio4 and KWID will be manufactured by IKCO.
According to several reviews, KWID is a well-designed car with an affordable price, which will give IKCO a head-start.
Yekezare noted that the cooperation agreement covers 75% of Renault’s operations in Iran and the two sides are expected to jointly produce 300,000 units of one model.
Mostafa Khankarami, IKCO’s deputy head for marketing and sales, announced that the company’s sales have upped by 49% this year over the same period of last year.
Referring to IKCO-Peugeot joint venture products earmarked for the domestic market, Khankarami said PSA was the first carmaker interested in entering Iran’s market following the sanctions’ removal. He added that the boost in sales emphasizes the boom in the car market in the absence of recession in this section.
“IKAP, which is the name of the IKCO-Peugeot JV Company, will soon introduce three Peugeot cars: 2008, 301 and 208, which meet the latest international standards and can compete with top European and American brands in terms of quality,” he said.
Khankarami also said that in view of the rise in sales and production improvement projects,” we hope IKCO’s customer satisfaction index will rise as well”.
