Iran Offers Incentives to Airlines Promoting Inbound Tourism

Based on a new policy, all airlines, whether Iranian or foreign, will be given special permits by Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization to operate charter flights, if they contribute to inbound tourism. The decision was made following requests by tour operators that claimed their plans to organize tours for foreign travelers face difficulties, as many clients do not fly with all airlines and demand to travel with trustworthy carriers, said Morteza Dehqan, director of  the supervision office at the CAO, Mehr News Agency reported. Referring to the move as one of CAO’s incentives to boost inbound figures, the official said the entry of foreign tourists is a matter of great importance for Iran due to its contribution to economic growth. “The organization has stringent guidelines for foreign airlines with regard to outbound flights, but is more flexible about inbound flights and will facilitate their operation as long as they help bring in tourists,” said Dehqan.
