A group of US Senate Democrats is pushing for the renewal of a law that allows Washington to hit companies with economic sanctions for doing business with Iran. Senator Ben Cardin is the top Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee. In a statement on Friday, he said extending the Iran Sanctions Act for another 10 years will ensure the US can target Tehran should it fail to live up to the terms of last year's nuclear deal, AP reported. The US Congress passed the Iran Sanctions Act in 1996, which expires at the end of the year. Cardin and 13 other Democrats are sponsoring the legislation.
