4 Clerics Reappointed to Vetting Body

of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei reappointed three jurisprudents of Islamic law to the Guardians Council. In separate decrees issued on Thursday, Ayatollah Khamenei reappointed Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Reza Modarresi-Yazdi and Hojjatoleslam Mehdi Shabzendedar to the top vetting body, which is charged with interpreting the Iranian Constitution, supervising elections and approving candidates for presidential, parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections, Tasnim News Agency reported. The council comprises six jurists and six jurisprudents of Islamic law. The law experts are nominated by the judiciary and elected by the parliament and the clerics are appointed by the Leader.
