Economy Minister Ali Tayyebnia said financing by securities markets more than tripled in the last Iranian year (March 2015-16).
Tehran Stock Exchange and the Iran Fara Bourse over-the-counter market increased their share of financing in Iran to 1,000 trillion rials ($28.5 billion at market exchange rate) last year from 300 trillion rials ($8.5 billion) the year before, SENA reported.
The sale of 185 trillion rials ($5.2 billion) of debt securities was a key factor contributing to the growth. However, despite all that growth, the Iranian financial system still heavily relies on banks for financing businesses, nearly 90% of all funding come from banks.
