Minister of Economy Ali Tayyebnia on Tuesday appointed Mohsen Pourkiani to head of Iran Insurance Company. The move comes after IIC’s former head Abbas Husseini stepped down, the ministry’s website reported. Pourkiani has served as a member of the IIC board of director. He also was head of Iran Moein Insurance Company, a subsidiary of the IIC operating in the free trade zones.
He is the third person appointed to run Iran’s only state-owned insurance company in the past two years, according to risknews.ir. No reason was reported on Husseini’s resignation.
Iran Insurance Company alone accounts for about 40% of the insurance market, while the remaining is shared between 30 private insurers.
