Educating and informing families on the traditional and new forms of illicit drugs and their consequences is the best approach to fight the scourge, said Hamid Yazdanpanah, a senior official at the Iran Drug Control Headquarters. “Improper action against social harm such as substance abuse and addiction will give rise to more problems,” he stressed at a meeting of officials at the IDCH. Noting that regular educational programs for families on social harm will help protect them against abuse, he said the capacities of local scholars and experts should be harnessed to that end, ILNA reported. The meeting also discussed holding educational seminars and courses for families on specific national occasions.
