Security forces killed five members of the so-called Jaish ul-Adl (Army of Justice) terrorist group in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, a police spokesman said.

Saeed Montazer-al-Mahdi said on Monday that the terrorists were killed during clashes with police forces in the Khash region in the province, Press TV reported.

He added that the terrorists sought to conduct acts of terror inside the country, noting that a huge amount of ammunition was confiscated from them.

An Iranian police officer was killed in the clashes.

Jaish ul-Adl was formed in 2012 by members of the Pakistan-based Jundallah, another terrorist group which was dismantled by intelligence forces in 2010 after its ringleader, Abdolmalek Rigi, was captured and later executed.

The group has claimed responsibility for a number of criminal activities in Pakistan and Iran in recent years.

On February 6, 2014, the terror group abducted 5 Iranian border guards in the Jakigour region of Sistan and Baluchestan Province and took them to Pakistan.

On March 23, 2014, the terror group said that it had killed one of the hostages. The other four were freed two months after their abduction.
