A deputy at the ministry of education said half of the 12.5 million students in the nation’s classrooms are in elementary school, ISNA reported. Mohammad Dimeh said among them 1.3 million would start first grade this academic year, commencing September 23. He added there are currently 288,000 teachers at the primary school level.
