Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to the Leader, said on Sunday he has no plan to join nuclear talks being held in Muscat, Oman. Earlier, an informed source had denied the report of Velayati’s presence in Muscat for nuclear talks, ISNA reported. Al-Monitor claimed on Saturday sources told it Velayati may join the talks between US Secretary of State John Kerry, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and European Union negotiator Catherine Ashton in Oman in a signal that Tehran may be preparing to sign a nuclear deal with the major powers. Velayati also said he is not informed about an alleged secret letter by US President Barack Obama to the Leader on the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
