Nearly 90% of the state-run hospitals have been equipped with biomedical waste disinfection devices, said Khosrow Sadeqniat, a senior official at the Health Ministry. “The remaining will be equipped with the devices soon and their functioning and use will be checked routinely by the ministry at regular intervals,” he told IRNA. “Hospitals failing to install the devices or repair the non-functioning ones will be fined,” he warned, noting that any violations of health regulations would affect the ranking and the budget allocated to the hospitals.
