Under a new rule passed by the government, automakers and car importers are obliged to fix any faults with new vehicles sold by their dealerships.
The rules, according to IRNA, say under any circumstances, car producers are obliged to fix problems through their official dealers.
The new rule requires car dealerships to handle after sales, provide adequate spare parts, if necessary, and also service the car defects.
The report notes that the cost of repairs cannot be imposed on the car buyer, as replacement of parts is expensive.
Car buyers in Iran often get the short end of new car deals, as dealerships often claim that the car owner themselves caused the fault and make them pay for repairs.
Devised by the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade, the new rules are aimed at respecting consumer rights.
