Top diplomats from Iran and Venezuela weighed plans at a meeting in Tehran to boost bilateral relations in a range of fields, particularly trade.
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Venezuelan counterpart Delcy Eloina Rodriguez Gomez held a meeting in Tehran on Saturday, Tasnim News Agency reported.
Voicing Iran’s eagerness to broaden ties with Venezuela, Zarif said the two countries need to strengthen cooperation in international organizations.
He also called for closer cooperation between Tehran and Caracas in the pharmaceutical industry, implementation of joint projects and banking ties.
The visiting Venezuelan minister said the Latin American nation is prepared to enhance relations with Iran and push for the success of the Non-Aligned Movement.
She also invited Zarif to visit Venezuela.
Earlier in January, Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro paid an official visit to Tehran and held meetings with high-ranking Iranian officials.
