Five platforms of South Pars’s phases 19, 20 and 21 will be installed until the end of the current Iranian year (ending March 20, 2017), managing director of Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company said on Saturday.
“In the current year, three platforms of Phase 19 and two platforms of phases 20 and 21 will become operational,” Gholamreza Manouchehri was also quoted as saying by Shana.
Manouchehri added that IOEC pursues laying a pipeline and drilling 22 wells in Phase 14 of South Pars Gas Field during the same period, while accelerating the development process of the projects.
SP’s Phase 14 is currently under development by a consortium of Iranian companies, including Industrial Development & Renovation Organization of Iran, Iran Shipping and Offshore Industries Complex Company, National Iranian Drilling Company and IOEC.
According to the official, IOEC handles over 70% of South Pars’s offshore projects and plays a significant role in oil industry’s marine activities, based on which the implementation of projects of the joint field tops IOEC’s list of priorities.
The South Pars/North Dome field is a natural gas condensate field located in the Persian Gulf. It is the world's largest gas field, shared between Iran and Qatar. According to the International Energy Agency, the field holds an estimated 51 trillion cubic meters of in-place natural gas and some 50 billion barrels (7.9 billion cubic meters) of natural gas condensates.
The gas field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, of which 3,700 square kilometers (South Pars) are in Iranian territorial waters and 6,000 square kilometers (North Dome) are in Qatari territorial waters.
PSEEZ’s Non-Oil Exports
Mehdi Yousefi, managing director of Pars Special Economic Energy Zone, announced a 28% growth in non-oil exports from the zone to 29 countries, IRNA reported.
“During the last Iranian year, 13.238 million tons of commodities worth $7.32 billion were exported from PSEEZ, indicating a 28% increase compared with the previous year,” he said. Yousefi added that in the second half of the last Iranian year, over $3.2 worth of 6.32 million tons of goods were exported from the zone, which shows a 10% rise in terms of volume compared with the same period of previous year.
Likewise, data show that non-oil exports from PSEEZ in the Iranian month that ended March 19 have grown by 7% compared with the corresponding period of previous year.
According to Yousefi, the main export goods of PSEEZ are light and heavy polyethylene, mono-ethylene glycol, di-ethylene glycol, tri-ethylene glycol, urea, butane, propane, paraxylene, cement and methanol.
