The seven members of the jury for the International Competition section (Cinema Salvation) of the 34th Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) have been announced.
According to the public relations office of the festival, the jury includes five well-known foreign filmmakers and producers and two prominent Iranians who will evaluate the 15 participating movies of the competition section.
The international members of the jury include, Turkish film producer Zeynep Ozbatur Atakan, known for Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s ‘Winter Sleep’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in Anatolia’; producer Ivo Felt from Estonia, known for ‘Tangerines’ and ‘The Fencer’, both nominated for Golden Globe; Spanish filmmaker and educator Jose Luis Guerin, known for ‘In the City of Sylvia’ and ‘En construccion’; Chinese film director and producer Tian Zhuangzhuang, known for ‘The Go Master’ and ‘The Warrior and the Wolf’; and French producer Emmanuel Prevost, known for ‘Go Fast’ and ‘Oggy and the Cockroaches’.
Majid Majidi and Naser Taghvai are the two Iranian judges.
Majidi’s latest work, the epic of ‘Muhammad (PBUH), Messenger of God’, on the life of the holy prophet of Islam, made a sensation on the international scene last year. His 1998 production ‘Children of Heaven’ was nominated to receive the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Taghvai, a director and screenwriter, has made brilliant movies and TV series including ‘Captain Khorshid’ and ‘Uncle Napoleon’.
The 34th FIFF will be held in Tehran April 20-25.
