Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called for economic partnership between Iran and Brunei.
Zarif also referred to numerous potentials for developing economic cooperation and making mutual investments, following the removal of nuclear sanctions on Iran.
He made the statements in a meeting with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in Brunei's capital of Bandar Seri Begawan on Wednesday on the third leg of an Asia-pacific tour, Fars News Agency reported.
The international sanctions are removed as a result of the implementation of the nuclear deal between Iran and world powers on January 16.
Zarif also pointed to the problems of the Muslim world and the threats of terrorism and extremism against it, to overcome which he said Muslims need to be united.
Bolkiah said the southeast Asian state welcomes working with Iran in various fields, including science, technology and petrochemicals.
During his stay, Zarif also met Crown Prince of Brunei Al-Muhtadee Billah, among other high-ranking officials.
Before flying to Brunei, Zarif was in Singapore on Monday for an official visit, where he met Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.
In the first part of his six-country tour, Zarif went to Indonesia on Saturday to discuss bilateral ties with Indonesian officials and participate in the Fifth Extraordinary OIC Summit on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
Zarif's 11-day tour is aimed at taking advantage of the chances appeared for the country following the removal of sanctions.
In the next leg of the tour, the foreign minister will visit Thailand to meet Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, in addition to taking part in the 14th ministerial meeting of Asia Cooperation Dialogue.
The 32-member ACD is a body created in 2002 to promote Asian cooperation at the continental level and help integrate various regional organizations. New Zealand and Australia are the final destinations in the tour, where Zarif will discuss expansion of bilateral relatrions and review the latest international developments.
