The Foreign Ministry spokesman said any measure of foreign countries regarding Syria, which is not coordinated with the Syrian government, will only add to problems in the war-torn country.
In a press conference in Tehran on Monday, Hossein Jaberi Ansari said the violation of Syria's national sovereignty would not be helpful, IRNA reported.
The diplomat was referring to a recent announcement by Turkey and Saudi Arabia that they are ready to send troops to Syria, if the US-led coalition decides to start ground operations against terrorist elements in Syria.
"Iran believes that the Syrian situation has become a complex and multi-layered crisis, due to extensive regional and international intervention. Hence, [devising] a mechanism to settle the conflict would also take a long time," he said.
"Continuing these [interventionist] measures would only escalate the conflict ... which have a serious impact on regional stability. We hope that all countries will consider these issues when making decisions."
Ansari said the only path to a settlement is submitting to the vote of the people of Syria, hoping that the strong will of regional and trans-regional states would clear the path to that end.
After days of negotiations, diplomats from a group of countries in Munich, including the US, Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Iran, agreed on Friday to seek a temporary "cessation of hostilities" in Syria within a week.
