The quality of air in Tehran is once again reaching dangerous levels, forcing officials to close schools on Monday and Tuesday. Speaking to ILNA, Muhammad Rastegari, deputy for environmental monitoring at the Department of Environment, said following a statement by the Iran Meteorological Organization warning that the capital’s air quality will approach the 150 threshold — three times the World Health Organization’s advised maximum — the DOE decided to shut schools. “Air quality is expected to improve from Tuesday evening onward,” he added. With the exception of hospitals and banks, all offices will begin work with a two-hour delay on Tuesday.
