American cars may, after all, be entering Iran in the near future, as Trade Promotion Organization of Iran has released a new set of regulations for the import of Chevrolets.

Addressed to Iran Customs Administration, TPO stated that Saham Pajoohan Mehr is the company permitted to import Chevrolets via South Korea, local automotive website Asre Khodro reported.

The Chevrolet models expected are Trax and Aveo with engine capacities ranging from 1,400 to 1,800 liters.

In May 2015, Saham Pajoohan Mehr claimed it had obtained an import permit for Chevrolet, the American automaker owned by General Motors.

Rejecting the claim, the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade denied issuing import permits for Chevrolets, the ministry's director general for vehicles, Amir Hossein Qanati, said at the time.
