The 3rd joint regional conference of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and the International Road Transport Union (IRU) opens on October 26 in Tehran, IRNA reported. The conference seeks to examine road transportation and implementation of TIR Convention -- an international transit document -- in the region. It also tries to make experts of ECO countries familiar with the process of implementation and employment of new tools for improvement of road transportation. Representatives from ministries of transportation, customs administrations and private sector of the ECO member countries as well as representatives from European Economic Commission of the United Nations and a number of international and regional transportation organizations were set to attend the conference.
