Some $17 million worth of furniture were exported from Iran during the nine-month period ending December 21, said head of Iran Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters Union, Hassan Ahmadian, on the sidelines of the Fifth International Exhibition of Office Furniture at Tehran’s International Fairground. Furniture exports have declined due to instability in the neighboring country Iraq, since the country has long been one of the top export destinations for Iranian furniture, Mehr News Agency quoted him as saying. “It is our hope to expand our market to Persian Gulf littoral states, Central Asian countries, Oman, Syria and Afghanistan, and raise exports to $40 million by the yearend (March 19, 2016).”
