Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi announced that Iran and Afghanistan will cooperate on developing joint Persian-language applications.
Vaezi held a meeting with an Afghan delegation in which a wide range of issues were discussed. He said the policy of the Iranian government is to prioritize neighboring countries, particularly Afghanistan.
“Fortunately, the two countries’ political relations are at their best level,” he said.
Given the success of Iranian companies in Afghanistan, Vaezi talked about the software and hardware abilities of Iran.
“We have agreed to continue cooperation and a meeting has been set up with Iran’s private sector in which the capabilities of Iranian companies will be introduced,” he said.
Talking about the cooperation of Iran and Afghanistan in fields, such as software, Persian-language applications, research, postal services and Geocoded National Address File, the minister announced that five committees related to electronic services, telecommunications network and infrastructures, research, regulations and postal services will be established.
Vaezi also hoped that the document on ICT cooperation would be signed by the two countries.
