A Georgian delegation unveiled plans to invest $15 million in four mineral exploration projects in the northwestern Iranian province of East Azarbaijan next year. The delegation met with deputy governor of East Azarbaijan, Saeed Shabestari, who said the province’s close proximity to Georgia and its vast untapped mineral reserves provide favorable opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, IRNA reported. Georgia shares borders with Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia, and is a major producer and exporter of iron, copper and scrap iron in the region.
