The minister of health and medical education has left for Tunis to attend the 61st regional committee of Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office of World Health Organization (EMRO).
He is scheduled to address the committee as head of the G5 which represents Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and WHO, which coordinates health cooperation among the group. Dr. Hassan Hashemi will meet with Dr. Margaret Chan, director-general of the World Health Organization and also hold bilateral meetings with ministers of member countries, Mehr news agency reported.
Delegates will discuss and agree on issues relating to public health, set policy and approve the program and budget for WHO work in the region.The meeting concludes on Oct. 22.
