With EU sanctions set to be lifted early next year, the German airline Eurowings is the latest carrier to announce that it will launch a new route to Tehran.

Lufthansa Group’s low-cost subsidiary, formerly known as Germanwings, will start a weekly service from Cologne Bonn Airport on March 29, 2016, which will double to twice a week from May 6, the UK-based travel publication Buying Business Travel reported.

The flight will initially operate on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and then be extended to Fridays and Saturdays.

The outbound service will depart Cologne Bonn at 21.05 to arrive at Imam Khomeini International Airport at 04.40 the next day. The return service will leave Tehran at 06.25 and land in Germany at 09.25.

Eurowings said it one of its Airbus A330 will be used for the route.

Last week, fellow Lufthansa Group carrier Austrian Airlines announced it will add a second service on to its Vienna-Tehran route next year, soon after the group announced it will once again fly direct from Munich to Tehran.

The flights will be launched  in the coming summer schedule; from April 14, 2016, and will depart three times per week at 22:10 from Munich, reaching the Iranian capital at 5:20 in the morning.

The flight route between Munich and Tehran was previously offered between April 2004 and the summer of 2006.

According to FTNNews, a return flight to Tehran can be booked for €429 ($472).
