Iranian students at Sharif University of Technology ranked first in the 9th round of IEEEXtreme 24-Hour Programming Competition.
The user called "TeamName" scored 2,296.48 respectively and took 18,386.42 to complete the challenge. Iran was closely followed by Switzerland and Poland, ISNA reported. The online event is annually attended by 2,000 teams from across the world.
A social media commenter called Masoud Shahnazari said Viva Iran led the league.
Power and computer students studying BS, MS and PhD levels were attending the competitions. A total of 21 Iranians from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran University, Amir Kabir University, Isfahan University of Technology, University of Science and Industry, Al-Zahra University and Yazd Azad University participated in the event.
Sharif University had eight teams attending the competitions. The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and Politehnica University of Bucharest respectively were placed second and third.
IEEEXtreme is a global online challenge in which teams of student members—advised and proctored by a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and often supported by an IEEE Student Branch—compete in a 24-hour time-span against each other to solve a set of programming problems. This year's event was held on Saturday, October 24.
