Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian and European Union Deputy Secretary General for the External Action Service Helga Schmid held talks on the Syria crisis in Tehran on Sunday, according to a Foreign Ministry press release.
The senior Iranian diplomat underlined the need for adopting a “realistic” approach to the resolution of the Syria conflict.
The EU official called for increased collective efforts to find a “political solution” to the dispute.
The two sides stressed the importance of regular consultations between Iran and the European Union on Middle East challenges.
