About 800 tons of eggs are exported every day mainly to Iraq and Afghanistan, said chairman of the Union of Egg Laying Hens of Tehran, Nasser Nabipour. According to the official, egg production is currently so high that the substantial amount of exports has no effect on the domestic market. He added that per capita consumption of eggs is currently about 160 in Iran, while the global standard is about 250. Annual domestic egg production currently stands at 930,000 tons, Mehr News Agency reported.
