About 200,000 tons of kiwifruits will be produced this Iranian year (started March 21), said head of National Union of Agricultural Products, Reza Nourani. He pointed to Italian agricultural products as the main rival of Iranian products in international markets and said: “Considering the reduction in inflation rate and consequently orchards’ production costs, we expect to be able to hone our competitive edge and perform better in international markets.” Iran is currently the fourth largest kiwifruit producer in the world, following Italy, New Zealand and Australia at first to third places respectively.
