The largest European scientific and academic delegation arrived in Iran on Monday, said Iranian Deputy Minister of Science for International Affairs Hossein Salar-Amoli.
Talks have been held after Austrian President Heinz Fischer arrived in Tehran on September 7 heading a 200-strong delegation, including a scientific board comprised of Austrian Minister of Science, Research and Economy Reinhold Mitterlehner, along with 17 university chancellors and heads of research centers.
Speaking to ISNA, Salar-Amoli said Iran and Austria are to sign seven memoranda of understanding during the European delegation's stay in Iran, one of which is about policymaking between Iranian and Austrian ministries of science.
The six other MoUs will be signed between universities of the two countries.
The deputy minister added that Iran plans to award scholarships to Austrian students and expects the same facility in return.
Universities of the two countries will discuss mutual cooperation and sign agreements on Wednesday.
Salar-Amoli noted that Tehran is willing to expand cooperation with the board to the utmost degree due to their high technological competence and the two sides plan to hold a forum in this regard.
"University chancellors of the two countries are expected to continue cooperation," he said.
