More than $361 million worth of goods were exported from East Azerbaijan in the first four months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), indicating an 8% increase compared to the similar period last year, says deputy head of the province’s Industries, Mining and Trade Organization Gholam-Ali Rasti. According to the official, carpet was the only commodity to have reported a $200 million decrease in export value because of the lingering sanctions and impediments in money transfer process, Mehr News Agency reported. “After Tehran, East Azerbaijan is Iran’s main export and import hub,” he added.
