Statistics released by the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade indicate that during a four-month period ending July 22, 329,000 vehicles were produced in Iran.
The figures show that 133,000 locally manufactured Peugeots account for 40% of all cars produced, Eghtesad News wrote.
The hatchback 206 and sedans 405 and Pars are three Peugeot models produced locally.
According to the statistics, with a profit margin of 20%, Peugeot Pars had the highest production figures among the three. During this period, 52,000 Peugeot Pars were manufactured on four of Iran Khodro Company›s sites. The vehicle has become the number one choice of middle class families looking for a roomy sedan.
Peugeot had a 72% share of all vehicles produced by IKCO during the four-month period. Three other sedans produced by the country›s leading carmaker—Samand, Dena and Runna—accounted for 21% of all vehicles manufactured by the company. IKCO›s other major French business partner, Renault, has evidently not done half as well as its rival. During the period, only 2.5% of all vehicles produced by IKCO were Renaults. Suzuki, IKCO›s biggest Japanese business partner, only had a meager 0.2% share of all cars produced by the Iranian company.
