Lebanese Defense Minister Samir Moqbel is scheduled to travel to Iran on October 17 to hold talks with defense officials on the military aid Tehran has recently offered to the Lebanese army to help it in its fight against terrorists.
During the three-day visit, the Lebanese official will meet with Defense Minister Hossein Dehqan and other military and security officials, the Fars news agency reported on Saturday.
In his visit to Beirut on September 30, Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Shamkhani announced Iran intended to give a military grant to the Lebanese army.
The ambassador to Lebanon said on Thursday that Iran had informed the Lebanese government of the nature of the pledged military aid.
"The military grant provided by Iran to the Lebanese government and the Lebanese army is ready in storage in Tehran," Mohammad Fathali said.
The ambassador also said Tehran had sent an official letter to the Lebanese government listing the weapons and pieces of military hardware included in the pledged aid.
