The northeastern city of Mashhad is hosting Iran's 15th International Auto Exhibition that opened on Monday.

Scheduled to continue until Friday, the event is hosting 150 national and international firms, said the organizer of Mashhad's International Exhibition.

According to Mohammad Javad Hamid, auto-manufacturing companies as well as other related industries from across the country, including Tehran, Yazd and Isfahan, are participating.

Several Asian and European firms are also in attendance, Fars News Agency reported.

Exhibitors are presenting their latest products in a wide range of areas, including passenger vehicles, heavy-goods vehicles, motor parts, front suspensions, batteries and electronic systems, tires and rims, audio systems, security and GPS.

The country's second largest auto manufacturing company Saipa will be present at the event. Saipa and a number of its subsidiaries, including Pars Khodro, Zamyad—manufacturer of trucks, and Saipa Diesel—manufacturer of heavy vehicles, among several others are exhibiting their latest wares.

Hashem Yekezare, CEO of Iran Khodro Company, Iran's largest and oldest auto manufacturer, also announced that his company and its 10 subsidiaries are taking part.

He noted that the event will create a brilliant opportunity for auto manufacturers to interact with other sectors to develop the local auto industry. It will also highlight the potentials for investment in Iran's auto industry.

IKCO will be presenting many of its old models as well the latest Chinese 4x4 Haima 7, the production of which recently began in the province of Khorasan Razavi.

Ramak Khodro, the local representative of SsangYong Motor in Iran, will also be unveiling a new model at the exhibition. According to the company's sales and marketing deputy, Aqil Mostafai, Ramak Khodro will be presenting Tivoli, the 4x4 crossover SUV.

Modiran Vehicle Manufacturing Company, the Iranian company representing the Chinese brand Chery (MVM), has also announced that it has a surprise in store.

The company will be showcasing the SUV Tiggo 5 said Amir Hassan Amiri, Modiran's marketing and sales manager. He added that the company plans to locally produce Tiggo 5 and "the necessary infrastructures have already been set in place".
