The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed receipt of information from Iran as part of a roadmap agreement to resolve outstanding issues over Tehran's past and present nuclear activities by the end of the year.

"Iran today provided the IAEA with its explanation in writing and related documents as agreed in the roadmap for the clarification of past and present outstanding issues regarding Iran's nuclear program, concluded between the IAEA and the Islamic Republic of Iran on 14 July 2015," the UN nuclear agency said in a statement posted on its website on Saturday.

According to the agreement, signed on the same day a historic nuclear deal between Iran and major powers was announced, Tehran undertook to provide the agency with information about its past nuclear program by Aug. 15 and clarify any further questions by Oct. 15. Subsequently IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano will submit a final assessment on the resolution of all past and present outstanding issues to the UN agency's board of governors by Dec. 15.
