The first conference for introducing Iran's potentials in automobile and auto parts manufacturing will be held this year in Frankfurt, Germany.
According to Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, the event will be held concurrent with the upcoming International Motor Show (IAA). The 66th edition of IAA will be held in Frankfurt from September 17 to 27.
The main aim of the event is to provide an opportunity for auto industry activists to become familiar with the latest technologies and achievements in the field. They will be able to negotiate with global auto businesses and showcase their potentials to pave the way for attracting foreign investment, IRNA reported.
Earlier, Hooman Hajipour, director general of guilds affiliated to the Iranian chamber, highlighted the importance of attending IAA.
"This is a great opportunity for small- and medium-sized enterprises from Iran to take productive measures in identifying potential German business partners," he said.
According to the official, the chamber will be dispatching a team of high-ranking business officials to the event. The team will include deputy minister of economic affairs and finance and head of Iran’s Organization for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance, Mohammad Khazaei, Deputy Minister of Industries Mohsen Salehinia and head of Majlis Industries and Mines Commission, Reza Rahmani.
Hajipour noted that Iranians will be able to familiarize themselves with international quality standards in the auto industry and should "focus efforts on bringing the technologies back home."
"This will also be a great opportunity for major auto part manufacturer brands to present their capabilities," he said.
Presenting the guidelines and regulations for investing in Iran and facilitating negotiations with international business partners are other top priorities.
Head of Iran's Vehicle Importers association, Farhad Ehteshamzad, also hailed the event as a great opportunity for "boosting bilateral cooperation in the auto sector.
The origins of the IAA can be traced back to more than 115 years. In 1897, 8 motor vehicles were exhibited to the public in Berlin. From there a regular exhibition was established. Due to its high visitor and exhibitor turnout, the IAA was developed into a yearly alternating exhibition of passenger cars and commercial vehicles in 1991.
The 65th IAA Cars in 2013 consolidated its position as the leading international trade fair. It is the most international motor show, with 42% of exhibitors and 44% of journalists coming from other countries. The IAA hosted 159 world premieres, making it by far the most important automotive trade show anywhere in the world, and also the one eliciting the greatest response from the media.
