Tax Treaty With Cyprus

In a meeting between head of Iran’s National Tax Administration Ali Askari and Cyprus’ Minister of Finance Harris Georgiades at Iran’s embassy in Nicosia, the two sides signed a treaty to prevent double taxation on traded goods between the two countries. During the Wednesday meeting, Askari, who is also deputy minister of economic affairs and finance, pointed to Iran’s economic potential in industrial, tourism and service sector and said: “The agreement will pave the way for further expansion of bilateral economic ties,” IRNA reported. The Cypriot minister, for his part, welcomed the prospect of closer ties with Iran and said he believes the two countries’ trade outlook is “very promising”. While in Nicosia, Askari is scheduled to inaugurate the Iran-Cyprus Joint Trade Association and also meet with Cyprus’ ministers of trade and communication.
