Iran's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi has opened an account on social media app Instagram.
According to Mehr News Agency, the minister posted a message in this regard on his official "cloob" account—an Iranian social media website similar to Facebook.
The message reads: "The use and penetration of communication devices are extremely widespread in cyberspace and the importance of making use of these devices for increased connectivity is undeniable. I have, therefore, set up a personal profile on Instagram. I hope that by using this app, I can become better familiar with our people's needs so that we at the ministry can further improve services."
The minister's Instagram account is registered with the screen name @vaezi_ir. At the time of writing this piece, the minister was being followed by just over 600 people.
