Deputy minister of cooperatives, labor and social welfare Seyed Abolhassan Firouzabadi has warned about the low economic participation rate of Iranian women compared to global standards. “The average global economic participation rate for women is 50%, while it is only 12% in Iran,” he was quoted by IRNA as saying during the conference on ‘Untapped Cultural and Social Potential of Women Workers’ on Tuesday. He called on women to increase their economic participation through establishing non-governmental organizations.
