With the end of fasting month of Ramadan, ensembles and singers of various styles are preparing to hold concerts across Iran.

The upcoming month of Mordad in the Iranian calendar (July 23-August 22) will see musical performances for various tastes, from classical and traditional to folk and pop, across the country, MNA reported.

‘Art Media’ symphony orchestra conducted by Pedram Taherian will go on stage at Tehran Rudaki Hall on July 22. Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 and Johann Strauss’s ‘The Blue Danube’ are among the pieces set to be performed for classical music fans.

A musical-dramatic performance by the young composer Mahyar Alizadeh, is slated for midsummer. In the project ‘Dancing With You in Flames’, famous actors Saber Abar and Pantea Panahinia will be accompanied by a group of new singers. The performance includes narrations of romantic stories written by Alizadeh who has made use of poems of renowned Persian poets Mawlana and Houshang Ebtehaj in his writings.

  Pop Performances

The young pop singer Majid Kharratha will perform in Tehran on Wednesday (July 31) following a one-month break after his tour in other Iranian cities. Kharratha who will unveil his second official album in the coming week, will sing a selection of tracks from his new album as well as his old pieces.

Saseed Shahrouz, one of the first singers who promoted pop music in the country after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, will resume his activities after a year and a half pause, and will sing for fans at the Milad Hall of the Tehran International Exhibitionin on July 23. In 1997 along with a few other singers, he led the new wave of pop music and paved the ground for other singers in the field.

Shahrouz has released eight albums, most of which were hot releases of their time. Now he is set to perform his popular tracks as well as pieces from his new album, not released yet.

Ali Abdolmaleki, who released his first official album ‘Special Contact’ two months ago, will have his second concert at the same venue on July 28. Besides the tracks in his album, he will also sing some of his singles. After Tehran, Abdolmaleki will perform in other cities.

Last year’s best pop singer Mehdi Yarahi, whose second album ‘Like a Statue’ came to the market a month ago, will hold his concert on July 31 in Tehran. The performance is said to be the start of his Iran tour, in which he is expected to go on stage in all provinces.

Maziar Fallahi is another popular singer who has found a large fan base for his “emotional singing.” His Tehran concert is slated for August 4 but before that he will meet his fans in the northern cities of Tonekabon and Lahijan and in Birjand and Isfahan.

Maziar has programmed a European tour as well. In autumn, he will perform in Germany, Sweden and England.

  Veteran Singers

The veteran artist Simin Ghanem, one of the few lady singers in the country, will hold live performances at Tehran’s Vahdat hall on July 22, 23, 24 and 31. In the concerts, organized specifically for women, Ghanem will perform memorable pieces like ‘Gol-e Goldoon’ (vase flower) and ‘Gol-e pamchal’ (primrose).

The veteran traditional singer Maestro Shahram Nazeri will have his latest concert in Bojnourd, North Khorasan Province. He will perform a selection of his Persian and Kurdish songs. His performance in the same city last year was warmly welcomed.

Ira ensemble, Sama ensemble, Sirvan Khosravi, Naser Vahdati, Mohsen Yeganeh, Reza Sadeghi, Babak Jahanbakhsh, Hamid Askari and Soheil Nafisi are the other groups and artists who will perform in the coming weeks.
