A 3D planetarium was inaugurated at the Abbasabad recreational complex in Tehran on October 6, said the public relations representative of the Iranian Space Agency, Dolat News reported.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by mayor Qalibaf; head of city council, Chamran; deputy of Iranian Space Agency, Fazeli; and head of Iranian Space Research Center, Karimi.
An exhibition of the country’s space achievements is being held at the planetarium until October 10.
With an area of about 11,000 sq meters, the planetarium is the largest of its kind in the Middle East. It includes a sky map on a spatial sphere with a diameter of 30 meters, Tehran Municipality website quoted Behnam Atabaki, managing director of Abbasabad Lands Renovation Company.
Spectators sit and watch the space images projected under the planetarium dome. The sphere simulates a space trip through the galaxy.
Recreational complex of Abbasabad is easily accessed through any of the three highways Haqqani, Modarres, and Hemmat.
