Iran Organic Association is lobbying for domestic production of organic meat and poultry, said Sadredin Niavarani, a member of the association.
New measures by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and International Federation of Organic Agriculture, raise the possibility of organic meat and poultry production in the country by means of the prescribed livestock medication.
Niavarani also pointed to the nominal price difference (maximum 10%) between conventional and organic production of meat and dairy products and said, “With better handling and management of food products, organic production could surge.”
Organic products can be identified by standard labels on the packages, he added.
