Gas production in phase 12 of South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf will reach 65 million cubic meters when platform B and C come on stream, director of phase 12 Rasoul Fallahnejad said, Shana reported.
Platform B is to become operational in December to supply gas to onshore refineries and Platform C will be launched by February, he noted.
Rasouli said the platforms' installation and launching operations are being entirely carried out by domestic experts.
Once fully operational, Phase 12 will see some 75 million cubic meters of sweet gas pumped into the national gas network per year.
Phase 12 is South Pars’ biggest phase in terms of volume of activities as well as investment and production level. The field is estimated to contain 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate. South Pars is the world's largest gas field, shared between Iran and Qatar, covering an area of 3,700 square kilometers of Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. It adjoins Qatar’s North Field, which measures 6,000 square kilometers.
