More than 386,000 tons of goods worth $139.2 million were exported via the southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan Province in the first quarter of the current Iranian year (started March 21), showing a 57% increase in terms of volume and a 44% rise in value compared to the similar period last year, Mehr News Agency quoted Tahereh Hamoun-Navard, an advisor to the province’s customs office, as saying.  Construction materials such as bitumen, industrial tools and chemicals as well as apples were the main exported goods, which were mostly destined for Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, Kuwait and the UAE. Also during the period, more than 171,000 tons of goods valued at $178 million were imported via Sistan-Baluchestan, registering a decrease of 58% in volume and 28% in value compared to the previous year’s corresponding period. Agricultural products such as rice, sesame and peas, along with textiles, livestock, automobile spare parts and home appliances were the province’s main imports, coming from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, Korea, Taiwan, the UAE and China.
