Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Monday underwent successful prostate surgery at a hospital in Tehran, IRNA reported.
The Leader said before the surgery that there was no reason to worry and that it was a routine operation.
President Hassan Rouhani visited the Leader at the hospital.
After the visit, Rouhani said the Leader’s general state of health was “very good”.
Dr Alireza Marandi, the head of the medical team overseeing the process of treatment, said the Leader is in a satisfactory condition, the Mehr news agency reported.
He also said the surgery, which took less than half an hour, was performed under local anesthesia.
In addition, he said the Leader will stay at the hospital for a few days to recover.
