An official at the Land Affairs Organization of Iran – a government organization affiliated to the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad – says mapping will be carried out on 10 million hectares of agricultural land across the country by the end of the current Iranian year (March 19, 2016). Farid Seyyedinejad, the deputy head at the organization’s Preservation and Integration of Agricultural Land Department, said aerial imaging and mapping was carried out on seven million hectares of agricultural land at a scale of 1:2000 over the past Iranian year (ended March 20, 2015), adding that three million hectares will be mapped this year, IRNA reported. Pointing out that 70 percent of Iran’s farmlands are not mapped, the official said the program is aimed at facilitating land management and issuance of land documents.
