A 20 million year old fossil of a manatee also known as sea cow was discovered in Shirinsu in Hamedan Province, Mehr News reported. The fossil, dating back to the Miocene Epoch, shows the animal’s spine, fragmented in two halves. Sea cows as a species are still extant but are rare. A museum is currently under construction in Shirinsu to house the fossil fragments.
