The deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs said Tehran supports efforts by the United Nation's special envoy for Yemen to secure an end to the Saudi-led military attacks against the Arab country, the lifting of the blockade on it and the resumption of intra-Yemeni talks.

In the meantime the Islamic Republic will continue to send fuel and food to the war-ravaged country thorough international bodies such as the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross, Hossein Amir Abdollahian told Fars news agency on Monday.

Pointing to the recent Yemeni peace talks in Geneva, he said negotiations will  resume soon, noting that the conflict in the impoverished country can only be solved through "political means and national dialogue."

UN-sponsored talks in Geneva on a ceasefire between Yemen's warring parties, which had started on June 15 with a view to bringing an end to the bloodshed in Yemen, ended on Friday without a breakthrough. Hours after the end of the peace talks in Geneva, Saudi-led warplanes launched dawn raids on Yemen's southern port city of Aden.

The UN envoy, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, said in five days of "proximity talks" the two sides agreed in principle on the need for a ceasefire and withdrawal of forces in keeping with UN Security Council Resolution 2216, according to a report by Reuters.

Amir Abdollahian said the presence of different Yemeni factions in the Geneva meeting proved that the Houthi Ansarullah movement and other original Yemeni parties support serious and realistic negotiations.
